Code of Conduct for Teaching Staff
The Teaching Staff of the College shall uphold the highest standards of professional ethics, academic integrity, discipline, accountability, inclusiveness and commitment to students and the institution.
1. Professional Responsibility
- Perform teaching, academic and administrative duties with sincerity, dedication and efficiency.
- Maintain regularity and punctuality in classes, meetings, examinations and other assigned duties.
- Complete the academic responsibilities assigned by the College within the prescribed time.
- Follow the rules, regulations and lawful directions of the College and affiliating University.
2. Commitment to Teaching and Learning
- Prepare adequately for lectures and deliver quality, learner-centred and outcome-based teaching.
- Encourage critical thinking, creativity, research orientation and active participation among students.
- Use appropriate ICT and innovative teaching-learning methods wherever relevant.
- Continuously update subject knowledge through research, seminars, workshops, FDPs and professional development programmes.
3. Student Welfare and Mentoring
- Treat every student with respect, fairness, dignity and impartiality, without discrimination.
- Maintain a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
- Provide appropriate academic guidance, mentoring and counselling within professional boundaries.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding students' personal, academic and other sensitive information.
- Never demand or accept bribes, gifts, commissions or unauthorized payments from students or their parents.
4. Academic Integrity
- Maintain honesty and integrity in teaching, assessment, research and academic documentation.
- Ensure fairness and transparency in internal assessment, evaluation and other academic activities.
- Avoid plagiarism, fabrication, falsification and other forms of academic misconduct.
- Follow accepted ethical standards in research, publication and scholarly activities.
5. Examination and Evaluation Duties
- Perform examination and evaluation duties impartially and responsibly.
- Maintain confidentiality of question papers, examination records, marks and other examination-related information.
- Avoid any action that may compromise the fairness or confidentiality of the examination process.
6. Research and Professional Development
- Promote a culture of research, innovation and knowledge creation.
- Undertake research and publication in accordance with accepted academic and ethical standards.
- Participate in conferences, workshops, refresher courses, FDPs and other professional development activities.
- Encourage students to participate in research, innovation, extension and co-curricular activities.
7. Collegial Conduct
- Maintain cordial, respectful and professional relationships with colleagues and other staff members.
- Respect academic freedom and the professional opinions of colleagues.
- Avoid harassment, intimidation, bullying, discrimination and inappropriate behaviour.
- Cooperate with departments, committees, IQAC and other institutional bodies for the overall development of the College.
8. Institutional Responsibilities
- Contribute actively to the academic, administrative, extension and developmental activities of the College.
- Participate responsibly in committees, admission, examination, mentoring, orientation, seminars, workshops and other assigned institutional duties.
- Support the implementation of NEP 2020, quality initiatives and institutional development programmes, as applicable.
- Protect the dignity, reputation, property and interests of the College.
9. Use of Institutional Resources
- Use College infrastructure, library resources, computers, internet, laboratory facilities and other institutional resources responsibly.
- Do not misuse institutional property or facilities for personal or unauthorized purposes.
- Maintain proper security and confidentiality of institutional and digital records.
10. Digital and Social Media Ethics
- Use digital platforms, official email and social media responsibly.
- Protect confidential information relating to students, staff and the institution.
- Do not circulate unauthorized, misleading, defamatory or confidential institutional information.
- Do not make unauthorized public statements on behalf of the College.
11. Professional Behaviour and Dress
- Maintain a neat, decent and professional appearance appropriate to an academic institution.
- Demonstrate dignity, courtesy, patience and professionalism in interactions with students, parents, colleagues and visitors.
- Avoid conduct that may adversely affect the academic environment or reputation of the College.
12. Conflict of Interest
- Avoid situations in which personal interests conflict with professional responsibilities.
- Disclose any potential conflict of interest to the appropriate authority.
- Do not use one's position in the College for personal financial or other undue advantage.
13. Prevention of Harassment
- Maintain a safe, respectful and harassment-free campus environment.
- Strictly refrain from sexual harassment, discrimination, exploitation or any form of inappropriate conduct.
- Comply with applicable laws, University regulations and institutional policies concerning prevention of harassment and protection of students and staff.
14. Accountability and Transparency
- Maintain accurate academic and administrative records.
- Cooperate with internal academic audits, IQAC activities, NAAC/AQAR processes and other statutory or institutional assessments.
- Be accountable for assigned responsibilities and maintain transparency in official work.
- Report serious academic, administrative or ethical irregularities through the appropriate institutional channel.
15. Commitment to Institutional Values
Every member of the Teaching Staff shall uphold the Vision, Mission and Motto of the College and contribute towards creating an environment that promotes academic excellence, integrity, inclusiveness, social responsibility, discipline, ethical values and holistic development of students.
All Teaching Staff are expected to be role models for students through their professional conduct, academic commitment, personal integrity and service to the institution and society.
Non-compliance with this Code of Conduct may invite appropriate action in accordance with the applicable College, University and statutory rules and regulations.
Code of Conduct for Non-Teaching / Office Staff
The Non-Teaching Staff of the College shall maintain the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, discipline, efficiency, accountability and ethical conduct while performing their duties.
1. Professional Conduct
- Perform assigned duties sincerely, efficiently and responsibly.
- Maintain professionalism, courtesy and dignity in all official interactions.
- Report for duty on time and maintain regular attendance.
- Remain available during prescribed working hours unless officially permitted to leave.
- Follow the lawful instructions of the Principal/Competent Authority and other authorized officers.
2. Integrity and Honesty
- Maintain honesty, transparency and impartiality in all official matters.
- Protect the reputation and interests of the College.
- Avoid any activity that may create a conflict of interest.
- Do not misuse official position, authority, information or College resources for personal benefit.
3. Student-Centric Service
- Treat students, parents, visitors and colleagues with respect, patience and courtesy.
- Provide services fairly and without discrimination.
- Do not demand or accept bribes, gifts, commissions or any unauthorized payment for providing official services.
- Handle student grievances and requests promptly and responsibly.
4. Confidentiality
- Maintain confidentiality of official records, student information, examination records, financial information and other sensitive documents.
- Do not disclose official information to unauthorized persons.
- Ensure proper custody and security of files, registers, certificates and digital records.
5. Office Discipline
- Maintain cleanliness, order and proper documentation in the workplace.
- Follow prescribed office procedures, rules and reporting systems.
- Maintain accurate records and complete official work within the stipulated time.
- Avoid unnecessary delays, negligence and unauthorized absence.
6. Use of College Resources
- Use College property, computers, internet, stationery, equipment and other resources only for authorized purposes.
- Protect College assets from loss, damage or misuse.
- Maintain proper digital and physical security of official records.
7. Digital and Cyber Ethics
- Maintain confidentiality of passwords and official login credentials.
- Use official email, internet and digital systems responsibly.
- Do not access, copy, modify or share unauthorized data.
- Exercise caution while handling electronic records and personal information.
8. Respectful Workplace
- Maintain a respectful, inclusive and harassment-free workplace.
- Do not engage in discrimination, intimidation, bullying, abusive language or inappropriate behaviour.
- Respect the dignity, privacy and rights of all members of the College community.
- Comply with applicable provisions relating to prevention of sexual harassment at the workplace.
9. Dress and Behaviour
- Maintain a neat, decent and professional appearance appropriate to the workplace.
- Maintain courteous language and responsible behaviour on campus.
- Avoid conduct that may adversely affect the discipline, reputation or academic environment of the College.
10. Accountability and Compliance
- Accept responsibility for assigned duties and official decisions.
- Cooperate with internal audits, inspections, examinations and institutional quality initiatives.
- Follow College rules, applicable University regulations and directions of competent authorities.
- Report irregularities, misconduct, financial malpractice or misuse of College resources through the appropriate channel.
11. Social Media and Public Communication
- Do not disclose confidential College information, documents or student/staff data on social media or other public platforms.
- Do not make unauthorized statements on behalf of the College.
- Use social media responsibly and ensure that personal conduct does not adversely affect the dignity or reputation of the institution.
12. Commitment to Institutional Values
Every Non-Teaching Staff member shall uphold the vision, mission and values of the College, and contribute towards maintaining a disciplined, transparent, inclusive, student-friendly and quality-oriented institutional environment.
Non-compliance with this Code of Conduct may invite appropriate action as per the applicable College/University rules and regulations.
